MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One of the men suspected of killing an out of towner in January is a teenager with a troubling rap sheet.
There were multiple warrants out for DeMarco McKinley’s arrest before a murder indictment came down.
McKinley, 18, is now facing the possibility of life behind bars.
The grand jury recently indicted him and suspect Devonta Vaughn for their role in the death of Lonnie Ludvigson in January.
They are charged with first degree murder, criminal attempted first degree murder, and the employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony.
Ludvigson was traveling on business from Iowa.
Investigators said he was sitting in his car on Prescott Street, near the home where he was staying, when four men pulled him out and demanded money.
He tried to run but they shot and killed him.
WREG reported on McKinley in May, when police were searching for him.
He was a suspect in a January robbery.
He reportedly pointed a gun at a woman. Police said he and another man drove off with her car.
He was out of jail on bond at the time.
County records showed he is wanted on charges like robbery, theft, and aggravated assault.
A CrimeStoppers tip recently led investigators to Vaughn.
McKinley is locked up in Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas, awaiting extradition to Memphis to answer to these charges.
CBS-affiliate KTVT tells WREG authorities picked up McKinley for a reported burglary. Tarrant County Jail records now indicate he is a fugitive.
He also goes by the name DeMarco Levey.
