MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Sonya Clayton said her son is the biological father of the 7-year-old child who survived a deadly stabbing in Southeast Shelby County.
According to deputies, Dallen ran out of the apparent at the Greens at Irene on Friday after witnessing his sister being stabbed.
Court documents revealed the boy ran to a man in the complex saying that his mother, Shanynthia Gardner, was behind the attack.
Dallen lived with his mother and her husband, but family members said he still had a relationship with his biological father, Dentrail Clayton.
Sonya Clayton said she and her son have not been allowed to see her grandson, and it is tearing them up inside.
“I need Dallen. I need to know what’s going on with Dallon. They are giving us the runaround. Why? I don’t understand. His dad wasn’t there because it was not by choice it was about keeping wreckage down — keeping down confusion. But his dad loves him, always have loved him, and always will,” Clayton told WREG.

The biological father’s side of the family claimed there was never any custody battle between Clayton and Gardner.
Clayton said the family had been to the Department of Children’s Services office but haven’t received any help.
A SCSO spokesperson revealed to WREG late Sunday afternoon that Dallen is in the custody of his stepfather’s family.
No further details about the case are expected to be released until Tuesday.
