MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Firefighters responded to the Peabody Hotel after a report of fire coming from the laundry room in the basement Sunday afternoon.
There was a lot of smoke coming from the room, according to Memphis Fire.
Staff and management of the hotel evacuated guests before fire crews arrived, according to Memphis Fire.
It was a small fire that was quickly brought under control, a Peabody spokeswoman said.
No one was injured and there was no serious damage, the spokeswoman said.
Fire officials estimated the damage at $500,000 to the building and $500,000 to contents.
