MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A controversial police practice might soon be an option for officers trying to catch criminals on the streets of Memphis.
The Shelby County Crime Commission is consulting with former New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, on how to cut down on crime in the Bluff City.
Kelly is well-known nationwide for his department’s use of the stop and frisk tactic which allows officers to search people without warrants.
It’s important to note, this has not yet been approved.
It’s just one option being considered.
