MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A mother is accused of shooting up drugs and passing out, all while her 7-month-old baby was in the backseat of the car.
Ashely Frazier is charged with DUI child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said it all happened at the Mapco gas station on Winchester Road and Airways Boulevard Saturday night.
The baby wasn’t hurt and was released to family.
This is after police said someone passing by spotted the mother blacked out in the drivers seat with a needle sticking out of her arm.
Family members were surprised when we showed up with our cameras to ask about Frazier’s arrest.
“Well, it wasn’t what I was expecting when I arrived at Mapco,” Linda Dyar said.
Police found the mother of two from Southaven knocked out off a drug called dilaudid at the gas station near the airport.

Officers said she later admitted buying the narcotic and shooting up with her small baby in the car.
Police say she put this baby’s life in danger.
“She has two children. She just needs to get her life straight,” a neighbor said.

A picture went viral last week out of Ohio showing two adults who possibly overdosed on heroin with a 4-year-old in the backseat.
“I remember seeing that picture on Facebook. It was awful. It was terrible– just the things that children have to see. It’s just sad,” the neighbor explained.
Although she was released from jail and cars were in the driveway, no one at Frazier’s home answered the door.

Frazier’s grandmother, whom the baby was released to Saturday night, said she’s a good person who made a bad decision.
DCS was called out here when everything happened, but since Frazier lives in DeSoto county, the case is being handed over to the Mississippi Department of Child Services.
A quick check shows she had some traffic violations in Shelby County, but its unclear what — if any — charges she’s faced in Mississippi.
Frazier is expected in court Monday morning for these DUI child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
