MEMPHIS, Tenn. — “No. I have no comment at this point,” a manager at Memphis Towers Apartments said.

On Monday, WREG was brushed off and told to get off of the property when we started pushing for answers.

People living at the Memphis Towers Apartments said they have been without hot running water for almost two weeks.

Residents got a letter last week explaining a contractor was hired but there was a delay in getting the part they need to fix the problem.

“They keep saying the part is on the way, but it’s too many people in there that really need hot water,” a man who only wanted to be identified as Joe said.

Joe told WREG that the hundreds of elderly and disabled people living at the building deserve better.

“It’s a basic necessity. That’s why we need hot water.”

“Man, I done got used to it now since it’s been a little minute. So when you got to jump first to get in there, it’s going to be super cold,” Kurtrell Williams said.

The mixed income property is managed by Millenia Housing which is based in Ohio.

A spokesperson with the management company told WREG they acted quickly when they first learned of the problem.

They said the part it needs is being shipped from somewhere on the east coast but got held up because of Hurricane Matthew.

The company said it has kept residents notified and let them know assistance was available on request.

Millenia Housing could not give an exact date on when the water heating issue will be fixed, but the part is expected to arrive this week.
