MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County Schools has suspended Trezevant High School football head coach Teli White for five days without pay following an investigation into grade discrepancies.
SCS has already taken disciplinary action against two other Trezevant staff members following the investigation.
In a released statement, the district said despite its confidence in its protocols for accessing student records, it recognizes the need for tighter controls.
Every high school will be getting added guidance and support in the upcoming weeks to ensure all records are managed with care.
“This situation is very unfortunate, especially for the students impacted; however, school staff will continue working with families to ensure students have the proper supports in place to remain on track for graduation. Ultimately, the District wants to assure the Trezevant High School community that it will continue to support Principal Mackin, his team, the students and the parents to ensure that they receive the necessary support to have a successful school year.”
The investigation was launched after the principal at Trezevant High School discovered grade discrepancies.
The TSSAA found no violations, saying none of the students with grade discrepancies had played that season.
The team did not play the September 29th game while the matter was being looked into, resulting in a forfeit.
