MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis activist Frank Gottie was taken to jail Friday and charged with violating his bail conditions.

Gottie, whose real name is Frank Gibson, is out on bail after having been arrested and charged with domestic assault back in August.

That incident was also a violation of his bail conditions from a previous assault of the same victim, police said at the time.

He was again charged with violating bail and harassment later in August.

Gottie told WREG this recent arrest happened because of an issue with his ankle bracelet, and it needed to be changed out.

He also said he didn’t go near his ex-girlfriend, whom he was accused of attacking in the earlier assaults.

Gottie has since been released on a $500 bond.

WREG is waiting to hear from police about what they say happened.
