DECATURVILLE, Tenn. — A judge has pushed back the trial date for Zach Adams.
He is charged with the murder of Holly Bobo in 2011.
Her remains were not found until 2014.
A trial for Adams was scheduled to start April 3 but has been pushed back to July 10, with jury selection starting July 5.
Judge C. Creed McGinley said the defense had submitted a motion of “significant sensitivity” to ask for the continuance. He sealed the request so the public would not have access to it.
Reasons given by the judge for the delay include the Easter holiday and the anniversary of her death on April 13.
Bobo family pastor Don Franks said that was not a concern for Holly’s relatives.
“The family wanted to get it over with. That entered into their mind, the possibility the anniversary would be during the time frame but for them, the quicker the better,” he said.
Future hearings for the case will be held in Hardin County.
“We feel it’s time for the family to say something to let y’all realize were really suffering,” said Ashley Bobo, the wife of Holly Bobo’s brother Clint. “We have faith in god he’s going to provide justice for Holly.”
The jury pool will come from Hardin County and the eventual jury will be sequestered during trial, the judge said.
The judge also asked attorneys to no longer speak publicly about the trial. He said he didn’t want potential jurors influenced by comments.
Co-defendant Jason Autry’s attorney said in court his client would no longer need a trial date, which indicated Autry had struck a plea deal. Attorneys haven’t confirmed the existence of the deal.
Suspect Dylan Adams is also in jail on a rape charge connected to the case.
Prosecutors said he did not yet have a scheduled trial date.
