WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — A 3-year-old child is in stable condition following what police say was an accidental shooting in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Early Wednesday morning, Captain Joe Baker with the West Memphis Police Department said they still have several interviews, but based on the information they currently have he does not believe charges will be filed.
However, the evidence will be presented to the district attorney for review.
On the scene Tuesday night, neighbors told WREG’s Kristen Holloway the child’s parents were involved in a domestic dispute inside an apartment at Arrington Estates when the child picked a gun up and accidentally shot himself.
The gun was reportedly on the table.
The child was initially rushed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition. He has since improved.
This is the fourth child accidentally shot in the Memphis area in less than a week.
