MILLINGTON, Tenn. — A Shelby County Sheriff’s deputy was trapped in a car after a crash Monday night, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

The accident happened near Highway 51 and Veterans Parkway.

Fire crews had to cut the deputy out of the car.

He was taken to Regional One Hospital in satisfactory condition the sheriff’s office said.

“Law enforcement’s not immune to hydroplaning,” said Earle Farrell, spokesman for the sheriff’s department. “It can happen to anybody, and it could have been a big downpour and all of a sudden it happens and you’re just going along and once you get above the roadway on water, you’re floating. So be careful out there.”
