MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that left a Memphis pawn shop without 17 guns.

Police arrived at Pawn Plus located on the 5800 block of Winchester Road around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning after receiving a robbery call.

The manager said two men walked in and held him and another employee at gun point and took 17 handguns.

“It makes me feel worried, I know I have three small children and a plaza that’s close to home gets robbed… yea it makes me feel very unsafe,” said Ernest Faulkner.

Take a good look at this surveillance video from Pawn Plus. Two crooks not only got away with a backpack full of handguns, they also swiped an unknown amount of jewelry

“Don’t nobody want to work anymore, they just want to take and get what they can, they’re lazy and they don’t want to do anything,” said Tasha Watts.

Watts lives in the Hickory Hill neighborhood and was shocked to hear more guns are on the streets.

“More murders are about to happen, that’s the only thing I can say more murders are about to happen,” said Watts.

This isn’t the first “break in” at Hickory Ridge Plaza. The manager at the Levi’s store two doors down from the pawn shop says someone broke into his store twice this year. He also says the Payless store on the corner was hit twice as well.

“Memphis is not safe, it’s not how it used to be anymore,” said Watts. “It’s not safe for the kids, it’s not safe for anybody.”

Ernest Faulkner thinks it’s an easy solution.

“More police to monitor the area, I know the police precinct is right up the street so there should be more police around,’ said Faulkner.

He says with more guns on the street, more crime just follows behind.

“Seems like it’s never going to stop,” said Faulkner. “I just wish they could do something that could help the cause of gun crime and murders.”

A business owner says that his employee saw what he thinks were the suspects running by their store this morning.

However, their surveillance camera did not capture the suspects, because it is only located inside of the store.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (901)-528-CASH.
