HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. — Fire crews battled a massive fire Wednesday night in an apartment building on Springdale Road in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas.

Fire Chief Reginald Wilson told WREG flames could be seen coming through the roof when they arrived on the scene a little after 7 p.m.

Ten to 15 people were evacuated from the apartments, along with several others from another nearby apartment building. That second location was cleared as a precaution.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the fire, but two firefighters sustained injuries when they slipped on ice.

At this time, they don’t know what caused the fire.
