MEMPHIS, Tenn. — More than 1,000 MLGW customers woke up without power Thursday morning.

At 6:30 a.m., the utility company reported approximately 1,900 people were without power in Harbor Town, Mud Island, parts of Frayser, North Memphis, Uptown and downtown Memphis.

Earlier in the morning, that number was significantly higher at more than 3,200.

Around 5:30 a.m., MLGW’s system reported electricity was back up and running, leading WREG to report power had been restored. Several minutes later, more outages were reported by MLGW.

The company said they are aware of the ongoing problem and have crews working to fix the problem.

They are expecting to have the power back on around 8:30 a.m.
