MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police were on the scene Saturday afternoon in the Hyde Park area of North Memphis, where a body was found.
Police received a suspicious activity call that led them to the scene in the 1000 block of Springdale Avenue.
According to the police, the complainant called after discovering a dead body on the side of one of the homes.
An investigation revealed that a 17-year-old male was shot in the 1000 block of Springdale on Thursday, March 29.
According to an affidavit WREG obtained, the suspect, 28-year-old Anwar Ghazali, shot the victim after the victim stole at least one beer from the store. Ghazali ran after the victim after seeing him take the beer, drew his gun and shot the victim as he was walking away.
While Ghazali reportedly returned to the store and told one witness that he shot the victim, Ghazali never called the police.
Ghazali has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.
