MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man has died after he was shot in the parking lot at V Live on South Mendenhall on June 10, Memphis Police said.

Police say the victim got into an argument in the club and was shot around 3:30 in the morning.

WREG confirms the victim is 32-year-old Memphis rapper Derrick Harris, also known as “Richlord.”

He was initially transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead Monday, June 25.

Memphis resident Yolanda Blair wonders if the club security needs to be better.

“I don’t go to clubs. That’s the reason why. You can’t go and enjoy yourself.”

We went to the club to find out more about what happened, but a man doing contract work said management wasn’t there.

So we waited a while and called, but no one answered and there was no voicemail to leave a message.

Resident Teddy B. says weapons aren’t the way to solve problems.

“We have got to stop the violence and put down these guns for Memphis,” he said. “Young guys these days don’t know how to fight. Y’all don’t know how to fight, y’all just want to shoot.”

He worries about the rap culture in Memphis and how it effects young people.

“Y’all need to listen to some Marvin Gaye, some Charles and Stevie Wonder. Listen to something other than that rap music.”

Two other victims in the shooting received non-critical injuries.

Police say the shooting started after an argument broke out inside the club.
