MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police were called to a Hickory Hill gas station Monday night following a deadly double shooting.

Investigators spent hours combing the massive scene at the Exxon gas station on Hickory Hill Road and Winchester.

One person was pronounced dead on the scene. The other was rushed to the hospital in critical condition around 9:30 p.m. after showing up bloody at another gas station across the street.

Police say the shooting victims were in a stolen vehicle, which was recovered at a Mexican restaurant two doors down from the Exxon.

“Man, I was here with gunshots. By the time I heard that, I got in my car. I heard something hit my door, and I drove out of the parking lot,” said a witness.

He stopped at the gas station to get something to eat and drink, and left with a bullet hole in his passenger side door.

People in the neighborhood were already on edge after thieves fired shots during a pawn shop robbery last week.

One man told us he’s tired of the violence.

“The only thing they know is shoot and go, so I stay home. I have a baby. I try to stay out of the way,” he said.
