Police investigating possible murder-suicide in Helena-West Helena

HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. — The Helena-West Helena Police Department is investigating a possible murder-suicide after two bodies were found at the bottom of the Mississippi River on Sunday. Police say Cornell Henry called police around 6:30 a.m. saying he was going to kill his 20-year-old girlfriend and himself. He later went on Facebook Live saying he had already killed his girlfriend and was going to commit suicide. Police found Henry’s wallet by the side of the river in downtown Helena-West Helena and determined that he drove his car into the water. Witnesses Ricky and Betty Pitts say they saw an unusual white car speeding by while they were fishing. “The white car pulled up behind us, but all of a sudden he just spun out real fast and went back up the road,” they said. Two hours later, Helena West-Helena Police and the Phillips County Sheriffs Department pulled a car from the river. They said “two unidentifiable bodies” were found inside. “When we saw it hooked up to the back of the wrecker, we recognized it,” the Pitts said. Police are searching through the wallet that was found by the river. WREG is working to find out more information.
