HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — A college party turned to terror Thursday night after someone fired 50 rounds into a crowd of partygoers.

The incident happened at the Oak Palace on Stuart Avenue in Holly Springs. Oak Palace’s owner said the building was rented out by a Rust College fraternity member for a back-to-school party.

According to initial reports, a large group of people were waiting to get inside the venue when a silver car drove up. Someone inside the vehicle reportedly sprayed the crowd with approximately 50 rounds before taking off.

Two people were shot multiple times. Those individuals were airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis in critical condition.

Rust College said neither of the victims were students.

So far, no arrests have been made.

Kodey Taylor is a junior at Rust College. She’s thankful she wasn’t there.

“I felt bad and scared for them, all of them, every single one,” she said. “You just don’t know what goes through somebody’s head.”

Lacey Chatman is thankful his freshman daughter wasn’t there. He warns her about parties all the time.

“Just kind of like stay away,” he tells her. “Stay and come to school, go to school and have your fun on campus. I know there’s going to be parties and things you can’t do here but you have to. You have to stay safe.”

His heart goes out to the victims as police search for the suspects.

“I can’t imagine what they’re going through,” he said.
