TATE COUNTY, Miss. —Two people were killed after a school bus collided with a car in Tate County, Mississippi.

Mississippi Highway Patrol says the double fatal crash happened around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday afternoon when a car hit a bus head-on when driving Highway 4 and Linwood Road.

A man and a woman inside the car both died on the scene. MHP says the bus driver was not hurt in the crash.

No children were on the bus at the time.

The car’s roof was torn off, the front and side smashed in and mangled, and the school bus has quite a bit of damage as well.

MHP says the bus was going westbound on Highway 4 and the car was going eastbound passing another car, but never got back in the right lane and slammed into the bus once the car came over the hill.
