MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local woman was arrested overnight and charged after a man was found dead late Monday evening.

According to police, they were called to the 3000 block of Willow Oak Road just after 10 p.m.

When they arrived they found Ashley Rivers, 31, inside the home with Alonzo Scullark on the bedroom floor. Police said he had been shot once in the head.

Rivers told responding officers that Scullark had been playing with the gun when she knocked the weapon from his hand, sending it flying onto the floor. She picked it up and, as she was getting ready to throw it back on the bed, it went off hitting the victim in the head.

Officers said after investigating they arrested River and charged her with reckless homicide.
