MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have released surveillance video of two men wanted in a recent armed robbery on Beale Street.

Police said the incident happened early Saturday morning near the Main Street intersection. The two men reportedly approached an individual, grabbed them by the neck and began choking them.

That person was somehow able to escape and police said that’s when the men turned their attention to a second victim. That victim was also attacked.

Both victims told police the suspects had a gun and threatened to shoot them if they didn’t cooperate.

They were both able to run away after money was thrown into the air by one of the victims.

On Monday, one of the victims, Markus Blakes relived the moments he thought were going to be his last.

“I was like this was my chance right here I’m probably going to die,” he said.

It was supposed to be a fun Saturday night out.

Blakes says he was at a popular club on Beale Street with his cousin.

The father of three was carrying a large amount of cash and thinks the two men seen in this video noticed him buying drinks inside the club.

“My cousin he had already seen the guy. The other people said he had seen them too.”

As Blakes and his cousin were leaving in the early morning hours the two men followed them as they headed to Beale and Main Street.

Showing us his injuries, Blakes described the moments he was attacked.

“My cousin was scuffling with the dude at first because I had run and fell and the dude had grabbed me and was choking me.”

Blakes gave up his cash and now hopes those who attacked him are held accountable.

He also said he doesn’t plan to go out again anytime soon.

“I hope they get caught and everything. I probably won’t get my money back. I got kids to live for. They fixing to take my life from me. ”
