MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are investigating another case of road rage on the interstate system that ended in shots being fired.
The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. in the area of I-240 and I-40.
Authorities said they are still investigating the incident but told the media no injuries were reported.
The suspect was last seen heading westbound on I-240 towards Covington Pike. They may have been driving a black sedan.
“Our emotions get the best of us. And as they get the best of us that adrenaline is pumping and the part of your brain that is responsible for making decisions is delayed,” anger management counselor Teresa Hall-Franklin said. “Definitely think about long-term consequences. You’re making a life lasting action over a temporary emotion.”
It’s advice she hopes drivers heed.
Especially after hearing Wednesday’s chaos marks the sixth shooting on the interstate since September 25th – five of which possibly stemmed from road rage.
The two most recent shootings happened Thursday.
One man was shot on I-240 near Walnut Grove and another driver was grazed by a bullet just hours before near the Austin Peay Exit.
Police say they increased patrols on the interstate and asked the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office for help.
