SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — Six people were taken to the hospital after a two-car crash on Raleigh Millington Road near New Allen on Wednesday, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said.

“We’ve determined that ice or icy roads could’ve played a role in this crash,” Lt. Anthony Buckner, with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, said.

Lt. Buckner says two cars collided and six people were transported to the hospital, including a 13-year-old.

One person is in critical condition. The other five are expected to be okay.

“It’s iced and we’re waiting on road crews to come out and treat the bridge,” Lt. Buckner said.

Both cars were totaled and had to be towed away.

With more snow on the way, many are worried about slick roads and black ice for their Thursday morning commute.

“I’m really concerned about it melting and it freezing when it gets cold tonight,” driver Blair Solomon said.
