MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman said she was robbed and shot by a man while leaving her southeast Memphis business Thursday morning.

Police responded to the 3800 block of South Mendenhall near Flowering Peach around 4:30 a.m.

The victim told police she was leaving work when she noticed a man in a white pickup following her.

Police said the man got out of his truck, walked up to the woman’s Mercedes and fired a shot through the window, hitting the woman.

He grabbed her wallet and she drove to a nearby McDonald’s for help. She was taken to Regional One in noncritical condition.

“There is crime all over the city. It isn’t surprising where it happens anymore,” a McDonald’s customer said.

Employees at neighboring businesses say there have been a number of shootings and robberies in the area over the last few months and their not surprised it happened here.

The Memphis Police Department’s Crime Tracker shows 163 crimes within a one-mile radius of the McDonald’s and where the victim was shot.

Some involved thefts, burglaries, robberies and assaults.

The victim is expected to be okay.

Police have not made an arrest. If you know anything that could help police, call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
