(Southaven, MS) Investigators say the crimes started in 2009 when Southaven Mayor Greg Davis began putting personal purchases like lavish hotel stays, fancy meals and over $20,000 worth of alcohol on his city issued credit card.
No one knew about it until last year.
Last November a judge ordered Davis to pay back over $170,000 inappropriately spent.
Receipts showed Davis spent city money on adult toys at a gay bookstore in Canada.
He also is accused of using city money on marriage counseling in Arizona.
On January 4, 2012 alderman voted to improve oversight over the mayor`s spending and pass ordinances requiring Davis` spending be approved.
A few months later in March Davis was ticketed for illegally passing a school bus.
In May The Mississippi Real Estate Commission began investigating Southaven`s real estate deals between Davis and his close friend Chuck Roberts.
The two own a beach condo together and Roberts made over $3 Million from deals with the city.
In August Davis` ex-wife demanded full custody of their three children claiming he gets drunk around them and sleeps with his gay lover around them.
His divorce drama continued last month when the mayor ran from News Channel 3 when we tried to ask him about accusations claiming he falsified documents to hide money and lower any possible child support payments.
Finally Tuesday Davis is officially indicted for embezzlement and false pretenses.
