(Dyersburg, TN) A winter storm watch covers parts of the Mid-South through Christmas night.

Trucks are on standby in Dyer County ready to drop salt on the roads to prevent freezing and ready to plow any possible snow that may fall.

Emergency Operations Director Mark Grant tells News Channel 3 the track of the winter storm is uncertain now, but they’re preparing for the possibility of up to eleven inches of snow.

“We’re making sure our public works crews are ready. We have the snow plows ready, we have the salt supplies ready, and we’re just monitoring the situation to see exactly what we`re going to get,” said Grant.

Grant says they won’t have a good idea of what to expect until the forecast comes out Christmas morning. 

But Dyer County’s Emergency Operations Center is urging people in the area to stay up to date on what’s going on with the system, and limit the amount of driving on Christmas night.

News Channel 3’s Weather Team says the chances for a white Christmas are about 50/50 in Northeast Arkansas, and the likelihood drops the closer you get towards Memphis.
