MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis police officer has been relieved of duty pending an investigation after police say he pushed his girlfriend into a chair when she came home unexpectedly and caught him with another woman.
Michael Moore, 23, is charged with domestic assault.
The victim tells WREG she is six months pregnant.
According to court records, police responded to the couple’s home in the 8800 block of West Trophy Way just before midnight Saturday.
The victim told police she came home to find a latch on the front door, and that after forcing her way inside, Moore pushed her into a dining room chair to keep her from going into their bedroom.
The victim said an unknown woman then came out of the bedroom and drove off with Moore in his car.
When Moore came back about two hours later, officers detained him and later determined that he was “the primary aggressor,” according to investigators.
The arrest affidavit also shows that officers noticed a bruise on the victim’s shoulder, but she said that she didn’t know how it got there.
Police say the victim declined medical attention on the scene and went to the hospital on her own.
According to online court records, Moore was released from jail Sunday on his own recognizance.
Memphis Police spokesperson Louis Brownlee said Moore has worked for the Memphis Police Department since March of 2017.
He will make his first court appearance Monday morning.
