MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Four people were rushed to the hospital early Tuesday morning following a serious crash near the Memphis airport.

According to initial reports, four vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of Airways Boulevard and Shelby Drive.

All four victims were rushed to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Shedrick French says he was just seconds away from being injured.

“I nearly missed her. Just car parts and smoke was all I seen,” he said. “They had already been involved in the accident. It looked like she had just lost consciousness and lost control and went through the fence at the airport.”

A car could be seen in the middle of the road with half of it smashed into pieces.

“It was the worst accident I’ve ever encountered,” French said.

There was another accident that involved a school carrying 19 Lakeland Middle School students. Shelby County deputies blocked a road after the bus collided with a truck.

Two students were injured. One was taken to the hospital, and the other was treated on the scene.
