MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person was rushed to the hospital early Thursday morning after a shooting in Parkway Village.

Authorities have two crime scenes set up with the first being in the street at the corner of Getwell and American Way. Police have marked off several shell casings at that location.

Just a few yards away, investigators were focusing on a white pickup truck in the BP gas station parking lot. A clerk inside the store said someone in that vehicle was shot and came into the business looking for help around 3 a.m. Reportedly there were at least five bullet holes on the driver’s side.

Preliminary information suggests the victim was followed to the area by the suspect(s) after leaving work early Thursday morning. He was rushed to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

“It’s a bad part of town. You got a whole lot of stuff going on. You have to watch out for it,” an employee said.

Just two weeks ago, police responded to an early morning break-in at a grocery store in the same area off Getwell. The thief left behind a safe at the crime scene.

The suspect(s) in Thursday’s crime were in a newer Chevrolet pickup.
