DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. — A man is dead following a car accident in DeSoto County.
According to the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department, a tow truck driver identified as Tommy R. McKee was loading a car onto his wrecker when another motorist identified as Devan E. Simpson hit and killed him in the northbound lanes of I-55 near the the East Commerce Street exit.
Simpson was issued a citation for failure to move over.
McKee was a police officer in Crenshaw, Mississippi and was off-duty when he was killed. He had only been with the department for about two months, authorities said.
