MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An MLGW worker was shot Tuesday night while he was making repairs in North Memphis.
Police said man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a shooting at 666 N. Dunlap around 8 p.m.
MLGW confirmed Wednesday that the man was an employee. The hospital said Wednesday the man was in serious condition but doing better, saying he is awake and family is with him.
“The shooting is being investigated by the MPD,” an MLGW spokesperson said by email. “Although we have security measures in place, we are working with the MPD on coordinating our security measures.”
Police have not provided any information on a suspect, but they say the worker was not the gunman’s intended target.
Another MLGW worker went back out to North Dunlap on Wednesday to finish the job, with police officers standing close by.
Neighbors say they are pleading for an end to the violence and pray the MLGW worker pulls through.
Friends were too upset to go on camera, but said he’s a fantastic guy who puts his kids and family first.
