MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Town of Collierville’s computer systems have been attacked by ransomware blocking access to some files.

Collierville officials confirmed the cyberattack Thursday morning, and said access to some files had been blocked.

Thursday afternoon, town officials said they’d determined the attack had come from the Ryuk ransomware virus.

“The Town’s Information Technology staff has worked to minimize impacts and restore system functionality – at this time, all impacted servers have been isolated and shut down. IT Staff is beginning to rebuild servers with priority given to public safety,” a spokesperson said by email.

Collierville town employees remained at work but some areas had limited functionality, such as permits, public records requests, and business services. Emergency services were operating as normal.
