(Memphis) A security guard is facing charges after shooting a man outside a Westwood convenience store.

It happened early Saturday morning at the Dodge Store on South Third St.

According to police, security guard Rodney Benton shot a man after getting into an argument.

Benton told police the man pulled a gun on him.

The victim, Terrell Kennell, was shot in the head.

Benton is charged with attempted second degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. He’s being held on $200,000 bond.

Benton worked as an unarmed security guard. He is not licensed to carry a gun in Tennessee.
