(Little Rock, AR) The Arkansas Senate voted Thursday to ban abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected..
Bill, SB134 “Protection of Life with a Heartbeat, passed 26-8, according to State Sen. Bart Hester, R-Cave Springs.
The legislation would require a woman to undergo a test to detect a fetal heartbeat before the abortion is performed.
If a heartbeat is detected, the abortion would not be allowed except in certain situations, such as rape or incest.
The bill would also allow an abortion if the mother’s life was at risk.
