(Germantown) If you hear tornado sirens going off today in parts of the Mid-South, don’t worry — it’s just a test!
The Germantown Fire Department will briefly test the city’s outdoor emergency warning sirens at 3:30 p.m. today.
City leaders want to make sure the system is working properly after a series of radio upgrades at the city’s emergency dispatch center.
Sirens will also be sounding in Mississippi this morning, as part of the state’s Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Some municipalities may choose to test their sirens during the statewide tornado drill, which is scheduled to be held at 9:15 a.m.
