(Memphis) Memphis, Light, Gas and Water and the Neighborhood Christian Center are teaming up to donate 200 window air conditioning units to qualified, low-income seniors and disabled residents of Shelby County.

MLGW will install the units in June.

To apply to receive a free A/C unit, you must:

-Be able to prove you are a resident of Shelby County by providing a state I.D. or Driver’s license

-Be a low-income senior, 60-years-old or older

-Be without an operable air conditioner

-Provide your most recent pay stub or Social Security income statement to verify income

-If you have a physical disability but do not meet the age requirement, you must bring the proper certification information

MLGW will conduct field inspections to verify that residence meets installation requirements.
Units will not be installed if there are already operating units at the home or if a residence has bars or storm windows.

Applications can be picked up Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Neighborhood Christian Center at 785 Jackson Avenue.
