Civil rights icon Maxine Smith will be laid to rest Saturday.
Smith passed away a week ago after a long illness.
The 83-year-old is remembered as a fighter for change in the city of Memphis.
Her work will be honored during a memorial service Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at Metropolitan Baptist Church on Walker Avenue.
