MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thieves smashed through the front window of a Mercedes dealership in East Memphis overnight and stole several luxury cars, police say.

Officers responded to an alarm at the Mercedes-Benz of Memphis dealership on Poplar Avenue near Estate a little after midnight Wednesday morning. They found the front window of the lobby and a side entrance damaged.

Police say around midnight at least four people broke in, found car keys and drove away in four luxury vehicles worth at least $100,000 apiece.

Investigators say the car thieves took a red E-450 Mercedes, a black SL-450-R convertible, and silver and white S-560’s.

Video captured by a viewer shows four Mercedes matching those descriptions racing down Poplar  around the time of the break in.

Hours after the break-in police found the silver Mercedes but are still looking for the others.

The owner of Mercedes-Benz of Memphis said the car thieves also tried to steal vehicles from a car rental business nearby.

So far police have not released any surveillance video of the suspects.
