(Memphis) The Grizzlies are at home on Saturday night and the organization says the game is sold out, but this is when the secondary ticket market goes wild.
“I have my tickets for Saturday’s game,” said Veronica Harripersad, who was not waiting to get her grizzlies tickets. “You want to get your tickets early, already have your seat when there is a big crowd, go in, grab your seat and be ready to cheer on the grizzlies.”
She knows getting them from a scalper or website could be dangerous.
“I want to be sure that I’m going to get in and my ticket is going to be good and I have my seat so I save the trouble,” Harripersad said.
Right now, there are no laws governing the secondary ticket market.
Someone can buy a ticket and resell it to the highest bidder, something you may see outside FedEx Forum Saturday evening.
“It’s the free market at work,” said Grizzlies fan, Bob Freudiger. “It’s nice to get into a sold out game.”
But curbside is not where Freudiger buys his scalped tickets.
“I don’t like dealing with those guys,” he said. “They’re too aggressive.”
He goes online to places like Ticket Liquidator where he feels a little safer, “It’s the way I get into a lot of sold out games.”
The only safe ways to buy tickets is through FedEx Forum or at Ticketmaster.
But let’s face it, game three is already sold out and game four is well on its way, leaving grizzlies fans with few options if they want to get into the Grindhouse.
For Freudiger, it’s a risk he’s willing to take, “I can decide last minute the game I want to go to and I can still get tickets.”
