(Tipton Co.) Three people were arrested and charged with promotion of methamphetamine following an undercover investigation Thursday.

Police learned of three people – later identified as 33-year-old Davis Herring, 23-year-old Kari Elizabeth Hankins and 30-year-old Stacey Lynn Dupree – trying to buy items used to cook meth.

The three then met an undercover officer in a parking lot in Covington and bought a cold pack, two boxes of Sudafed, salt and drain crystals. They also promised to give the finished product to the undercover officer.

Authorities stopped Herring, Hankins and Dupree as they left the parking lot in a silver PT Cruiser. The car was seized at the scene.

Herring, who was on parole, and Dupree remain in custody with a $5,000 bond each. Hawkins, who was out on bond for another meth-related arrest in Lauderdale County, was freed on bond. She is now awaiting her July 23rd court appearance.
