MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police spent the afternoon investigating after a man was shot and killed inside the Dollar Tree on Summer Avenue near I-40 just after 1 p.m.
Frequent customers and employees at nearby businesses tell WREG that the victim was a Dollar Tree cashier, but police didn’t say what the motive may have been.
“Whoever did this, you know, I hope, you know, that they will come forward and, you know, say why they did it or, you know, find the reason behind of what happened,” said Dollar Tree customer Stephanie Richter.
The shooting came as a shock to regular Dollar Tree customers.
“People did steal here or there, you know, they had to call the police, but nobody’s ever killed anybody or robbed anybody here,” said customer Katlin Brandon.
“I’m gonna go to a different Dollar Tree because what if I was in that store? What if everybody was – What if you were in that store? It could have happened to you instead of a cashier,” Brandon added.
Police haven’t announced any arrests and no suspect information has been provided.
