OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — A Tennessee man was charged with first-degree murder after Mississippi authorities located the bodies of three individuals early Friday morning.

According to reports, Olive Branch Police were called to the area of Jefferson Drive and Shiloah Cove just before 2 a.m. Friday and found three people had been shot. All of them were pronounced deceased on the scene.

Residents claim they heard a commotion before officers arrived.

“It was a bunch of fireworks like normal,” one resident told WREG. “The last thing I heard was just five or six shots like pow-pow, just real quick. They sounded a little different from what I’d been hearing.”

Officers said they quickly identified the person responsible as 26-year-old Ivan Rodriguez of Cordova. He was taken into custody without incident and charged.

The victims have not been identified at this time.

No information has been released explaining Rodriguez’s connection to the victims or a motive for this crime.

WREG looked into Rodriguez’ criminal background in Shelby County, where he was taken into custody. The only charges he has on his record in that area are minor traffic violations and citations.

He’s been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and is being held without bond. Rodriguez’s first appearance in court is set for January 28.
