MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Fire Department is investigating a deadly apartment fire in the Parkway Village neighborhood on Sunday evening.

Memphis Firefighters were called to the Pinebrook Pointe Apartments, which is located in the 3500 block of Mediterranean Drive. Initially, an official with MFD told WREG-TV, three children and one adult were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

But later in the evening, MFD confirmed, two of the children died from their injuries, while the other child remains in critical condition. Additionally, one adult is in critical condition.

Investigators said the cause of the fire was cooking oil left unattended on the stove.
