(Desoto County, MS) Desoto County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested and charged William Joseph Abrams, Jr., for a series of car burglaries in eastern Desoto County over the past few weeks. Deputies have also cited four juveniles in the case.

Investigators said the thieves were targeting the Forest Hill area since June 11th.

Victims reported several expensive items were taken from their cars, which were unlocked, between 10 at night and 5 in the morning.

After gathering a description and surveillance, deputies arrested Abrams during a traffic stop Tuesday night. They reported that he pointed out the other suspects, whose names were not released because they are juveniles.

Several people in the neighborhood said the crimes have them rethinking their sense of security.

“I could see where I wouldn’t lock my car if it was in the driveway,” said Amy Bryan.

“It definitely will make you think to lock it up,” she added.

Investigators searched the homes of the juveniles who will have to appear in court.

Abrams is charged with burglary of an auto.
