(Nashville, TN) A duck named Buttercup has a new reason to waddle.
A birth defect forced doctors to amputate the duck’s foot but his owner, MIke Garey, hatched a clever idea for a special prosthetic webbed-foot.
Garey, who works at Arlington’s Feathered Angels Waterfowl Sanctuary, created an image of Buttercup’s sister’s foot with a 3-D printer and a Nashville company volunteered to make it.
Buttercup took his new plastic foot for a test waddle Tuesday in Nashville, that’s where officials with Aflac Insurance also donated $3,000 to the Feathered Angels Waterfowl Sanctuary.
