(Memphis) A Tennessee state senator says he’s planning to file legislation that would freeze tuition rates for state colleges and universities.

Senator Jim Summerville of Dickson says his bill would keep tuition rates at their current level for several years.

Last month, the Tennessee Board of Regents and the University of Tennessee both raised tuition between three percent to six percent for each of the campuses they oversee.
