MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Officials say Arkansas law enforcement agencies responded to a barricade situation in Helena-West Helena Sunday morning.

The Helena-West Helena Police Department says 37-year-old Timothy McNeely barricaded himself inside of a home in the 300 block of Neill Road. Two children, ages 7 and 9, were also in the home.

Police say the initial call came in at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. The suspect apparently fired shots at officers, but no officers were injured.

Arkansas State Police also made the scene and established contact with McNeely, but he refused to come out of the home.

Police say McNeely was finally taken into custody without incident at just after 11:30 a.m. The two children are reportedly in the care of their grandmother.

Police say McNeely is expected to be officially charged later Sunday.
