Tia McKenzie

Tia McKenzie is a passionate journalist with an entrepreneurial spirit. She is a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi.

She joined WREG News Channel 3 after working as a multimedia journalist and weekend morning anchor at WJTV 12 News in Jackson, Mississippi. While in the “City with Soul” Tia covered several big stories, from the 2023 Rolling Fork – Silver City tornado to the Rankin County Goon Squad case.

Tia attended Tougaloo College and earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication with emphases in marketing, advertising, and public relations. While at Tougaloo, she served as a writer for the Harambee Newspaper, as well as producer and anchor for Eagle Eye News. Tia participated in various activities and was a member of the tennis team.

She earned her Master of Arts in Journalism at the University of Mississippi. Tia served as music director and disc jockey for Rebel Radio 92.1 FM at the University of Mississippi. She produced an array of content, including her very first documentary.  

In her spare time, Tia loves listening to music, playing sports, and traveling. Educate, inspire, and empower are three words she lives by.

She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Association of Black Journalists, and the NAACP.
