(NEXSTAR) – Super Bowl LIX is barely behind us, but that isn’t stopping the NFL from hyping the next one.
At a press conference Monday morning, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell took a few moments to discuss plans for Super Bowl LX, to be held in San Francisco on Feb. 8, 2026.
“As you know, Super Bowl LX will be played at the beautiful Levi’s Stadium, home of the five-time Super Bowl champion San Francisco 49ers,” Goodell said after unveiling a Super Bowl LX logo adorned with an image of the Golden Gate Bridge.
“There’s such a great history in San Francisco, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that this year,” he added, noting that the city’s last time hosting a Super Bowl was in 2016, during Super Bowl 50.
“I can’t think of a better place,” Goodell said.
Zaileen Janmohamed, the president and CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee, said San Francisco will have “very big shoes to fill” but promised to “make Super Bowl 60 the best in Super Bowl history.”
“We will be ready,” Janmohamed told the journalists in attendance.
The location of next year’s Super Bowl was no surprise. The NFL had announced in 2023 that San Francisco would host Super Bowl LX after NFL owners voted to approve the site.
“I want to thank the ownership for believing in the Bay Area, and this is going to be a great place for us to showcase the best of Northern California,” Jed York, the owner of the 49ers, said at the time.
The locations of the next two Super Bowls after 2026 — Super Bowls LXI and LXII — were also decided years ahead of time, as is customary for the league.
LXI, scheduled for Feb. 14, 2027, will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. The last time the site hosted the Super Bowl was in 2022 when the Rams became one of only two teams in history to win the game at their home stadium.
LXII is scheduled for 2028 at the Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where the Falcons play. The city last hosted a Super Bowl in 2019.
The Super Bowl locations for 2029 and beyond have yet to be determined.
Super Bowl LIX, held Sunday in New Orleans, capped off a week of football festivities and fan events in the Big Easy. The Philadelphia Eagles ultimately bested the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, marking their second-ever league championship.
At Monday’s presser, Louisiana Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser wished San Francisco luck in undertaking next year’s big game.
“May your Super Bowl be as successful and as fun as the one in New Orleans,” he said.
